Grataai Saam Dtua

We as Friends of Thailand, Paderborn (TFP) - Grataai Saam Dtua joined as a club in early 2010, but we already have known each other through language classes and various other activities since 2008. Our nickname "Grataai Saam Dtua" means "3 rabbits" and shall express our relationship to the Paderborn area.

The reason for the founding of the club was the lack of any forum about Thailand in the region. Some friends were organized privately, but no focal point with regard to Thailand for the region existed. As a club we hope to improve this in the future, and additionally be able to organize events by ourselves. These could be lectures on topics such as Buddhism, travel, Thai food, Thai language or Thai massage, but also events such as common Thai-cooking or visiting Thai-evens outside of Paderborn.

Besides the sharing of information and planning of joint activities our main motivation is the support of Thai people being integrated here. The past has shown there is a great need for support, so we now hope to be able to offer some help soon. This could be the support for administrative procedures, the provision of courses or support in conflicts arising thought cultural differences in thai-german relationships.

We are delighted to be included to the MiCado list of the Caritas Association Paderborn, and thus taking care for integration issues about Thai people in Paderborn. And as a short-term goal, we hope soon to be officially registered as a charitable organization.

Either at one of our events in the future, or perhaps even as a member of our club (for just 3 € and 1 € per month) with free or discounted access to our events. On May 28th, 2010 we have been registered as a "Verein" by "Amtsgericht Paderborn" as #2696. By Finanzamt Paderborn we have additionally been accepted as a taxfree charity organization. Our official name isThailand Freunde Paderborn e. V. - Grataai Saam Dtua.
